The Imperial Group has had a long history since it’s foundation in Spiceland 1. Initially created as a hotel development company, IG was instrumental in developing Spiceland’s crown jewel; the Marina. IG created the Marina Residences, a series of high rises that led way to the creation of the city and eventually the nation state based around it; the Marina Federation. IG rapidly expanded its wealth and influence as the lead developer of the largest city in spiceland, and soon began to develop other cities, going from being known as a hotel company to a massive conglomerate that specialized in building whole cities from the ground up. IG created an empire, and with the development of the factory city Tonggong, and the oil city Nubai, now had the industrial power to back up its reign. IG used its vast manufacturing capability to build an advanced line of equipment and vehicles for the Marina Guard, allowing it to crush the combined forces that made up the Harley Revolution. The new technologies, most importantly the Legionnaire Security Robot, and the Drone Mothership, became an important part of IG’s manufacturing output, and became the backbone for the military of IG’s puppet alliance, The Coalition. Using IG weaponry, The Coalition became the dominant superpower of spiceland, a position that remained unrivaled until the end of spiceland 1.
In spiceland 2, IG continued the legacy of its old counterpart, but focusing entirely on military technology instead of nation building. In the comparatively less urban and industrialized world of spiceland 2, IG held far less land holdings and had a economic footprint that spanned far less of the world. Nevertheless, it’s technological advancement only grew, with the company developing more and more advanced and specialized products ranging from Legionnaires to orbital gunships. The company remained secretive and without a centralized corporate bureaucracy , operating from a chain of locations including IG Factory City, the Villa Imperiale, the East Korean Special Economic Zone and a small office in the capital of the jungle country Pabellon. As most of the technologies were in the development stage, IG’s funding came mostly from a web of smaller business and criminal organizations centered in Pabellon, as well as a limited number of contracts, including a contact to sell Legionnaires to Nav Co. At this time most of the manufacturing was split between the company owned IG Factory City, and the Special Economic Zone of East Korea, where the impoverished nation’s government leased out land and labor to the IG Shipyard. The weapons developed in this era of IG were not heavily used in combat, with a few small exceptions like in the holy war for raheemi.
